- Do our published policies limit
our scope of action?
- Is there an employment contract -
written or implied?
- Have we interviewed the employee?
- Has an independent source been
consulted, e.g., human resources, legal counsel?
- Is our decision the result of a
fair and proper procedure?
- Will any documents generated help
us in court?
- Are there any public policy
issues?
- Would termination prevent vesting
of benefits in the relatively near future?
- Have we considered alternatives
short of discharge?
- Are we letting the employee leave
with dignity?
